TURA: With the death anniversary celebration of Garo public leader, (L) Sonaram R Sangma, about to cross the 100 year mark on August 27, the Sonaram Memorial Trust which has been organizing functions every year at Bakrapur village has been urged to make the occasion grander this year.
Senior citizen and former Pro Vice Chancellor (Retd.) of NEHU, Dr. Milton S Sangma is of the view that the celebration be held on a much grander scale this year and has urged the organizers as well as the GSU and other NGOs to chalk out a suitable programme for the occasion.
Sonaram R Sangma was the first public leader of the Garos who gave up the lucrative post of a Mohurer in the PWD in 1898 in order to champion the genuine cause of the Garos.
