Verification of UALA cadres begins

SHILLONG: Twenty two cadres of UALA out of the total 70 have come forward for the verification process at Baljek near Tura where the cadres will be rehabilitated after proper scrutiny.
Sources said on Monday that the official disbanding of the UALA will take place after proper verification of all its cadres.
The UALA had entered into a peace settlement with the state government on December 18 last year and a formal agreed text was signed by the state government and UALA chairman Novembirth Ch Marak alias Chiindik in Tura.
Later, a few dates were fixed by the state government for the disbanding ceremony, but the UALA had (sought more time to gather its cadres.
The commander-in-chief of UALA Norrok Momin who was absent in the previous meetings took part in the last meeting held in March convened by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi
