More cases of rape, abduction

SHILLONG: There seems to be no end to cases of rape and abductions in the state where several such incidents have been reported in the last couple of days. Md. Manob Ali lodged a complaint that on April 22, one Md. Safiel Haque attempted to rape a girl in a forest at Teporpara village in South West Garo Hills. However, residents of the area rescued the girl.In another incident, Emalangki Nikhla of Lama Villa, Shillong lodged a complaint that on April 22 around 2 pm, unknown miscreants abducted one Wansha Lamare (16) while she was on her way to Chyrmang village in West Jaintia Hills. Meanwhile, on April 22 night, one Mohan Gurung attempted to rape a woman at Mawngap (EKH).Again, a woman lodged a complaint that on October 13, 2015 one Lendrid T Sangma proposed to marry her and took her to Mawhati village under Ranikor police station and sexually exploited her for the last six months.
