Tagore tribute
Members of Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club will observe the 155th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Jit Bhoomi Bungalow at 7 AM on May 8 followed by a procession to Brookside, Rilbong to pay homage to the bard. The club members will also put up cultural items befitting the occasion at U Soso Tham auditorium at 5 PM during the programme to be organized by the department of Arts and Culture.
MTC bus service
Shillong-Hailakandi (Barak Valley) night bus service will be operated by MTC soon. According to a Transport department official, the long pending demand of the people will be fulfilled with the operation of the bus service as all formalities in this regard have been completed.
Dry days
In view of the by-election to the Tura Parliamentary constituency on May 16, the North Garo Hills district magistrate has declared dry days from May 14-16 and May 19. All IMFL retail shops and bonded warehouses in the district shall remain closed on the said dates.
GHADC case
The GHADC Non Gazetted Employees Association has filed a case for non-payment of salaries and the next hearing on the case will be held on May 27.
