West Shillong MLA holds meeting to address shortage in supply
SHILLONG: West Shillong legislator Paul Lyngdoh on Friday reiterated the need for an LPG bottling plant in the State to address the shortfall of LPG cylinders in the city.
The legislator convened a meeting on Friday attended by the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply), officials of the Indian Oil Corporation and headmen of various localities under West Shillong constituency, besides representatives of the main LPG distributor Khasi Pnar Gas agency to discuss the shortfall of LPG cylinders in the city and particularly in West Shillong constituency.
Later, Lyngdoh said the North Guwahati plant was supplying cylinders to Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, with Assam deriving the maximum benefit from the bottling plant.
The meeting reviewed the position of supply of LPG in the city and the discrepancy in demand and supply.
According to Lyngdoh, the meeting decided that the Dorbar Shnong would go for intensive campaigning to ask people to book their refills within 15 days of the last delivery of LPG cylinders.
Keeping in mind the huge shortfall of 50 per cent of LPG cylinders in Shillong, the meeting asked the IOC officials to address the shortfall and also prevailed upon the DC (Supply) to conduct weekly meetings with all the distributors to assess the situation.
“We have also stressed on the need for IOC to come up with an action plan to deal with the situation that keeps on arising like shutdown of plants due to hartal or bandh, which affects supply,” Lyngdoh said.
