28 encounters since Jan 1

SHILLONG: Meghalaya police in the last four and half months has had an upper hand over the insurgents operating in the state particularly those in Garo Hills.
Police data reveals that from January 1, there have been 28 encounters including 22 with GNLA militants.
These encounters have resulted death of 16 militants besides the arrest of 132 others.  93 militants have surrendered during this period, police record said.  This year   three GNLA camps have also been busted in East Garo Hills.
