BSF seizes 740 bottles of liquor

SHILLONG: The BSF troops deployed at Ryngku, East Khasi Hills intercepted one Tata-207 (ML-05-K- 2439) loaded with 17 cases of liquor. After search, 740 bottles of liquor were recovered from the vehicle. An Indian liquor smuggler, Deepak Malik (31), from Ryngku Bazar, Mawsynram was also apprehended. He revealed that the liquor consignment was brought for smuggling and was to be handed over to a Bangladeshi smuggler. Cattle seized The BSF troops also foiled the attempt of cattle lifters from across the border. A BSF patrolling party in Rattachera area observed suspicious movement of few persons along with buffaloes. They immediately cordoned the area, but the suspected miscreants fled towards Bangladesh. The troops seized two buffaloes from the spot which had been stolen from the Indian village of Jalalpur. These were returned to the rightful owners after identification. In other instances, the troops of BSF BOP Patharghat and Tuka deployed East Khasi Hills on a tip off once again seized 18 cattle from the bordering area. However the cattle carriers/smugglers managed to flee.
