Teacher arrested for attempting to rape minor student

SHILLONG: In a shocking incident a teacher of CNI LP School, Mawlynnong has been arrested for attempting to rape a six-year-old girl of the school. The incident took place on March 22.
According to the FIR filed by one Archiblad S. Kharpuri, secretary of Shillong Pastorate Committee, All Saints Cathedral, Shillong CNI, the teacher, identified as M. Kephrin Kharlatang, molested and attempted to rape the minor at the computer classroom.
The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation and even revealed that he had also victimized some other girls of the school.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a woman filed a complaint on Saturday that her 6-year-old sister was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy at his residence at Kenbah Malai, Mawsynram.
It was learnt that the accused was earlier arrested in 2013.
Police have booked him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
