Team Onaatah jubilant over people’s response

SHILLONG: The team of Onaatah has thanked the public for the overwhelming response to the film and is looking forward for extending the days  given the audience flow.
This was informed at a press conference on Wednesday by Melvin Mukhim, lead actor of the movie.
“Seeing the theater houseful was encouraging for us”, Mukhim said
Speaking on the movie, Mukhim  said that the title, Onaatah  has  a native American origin meaning “daughter of the earth.”
As for his role in the movie, he termed it as one of the best characters he has played so far, “My character in Onaatah is very different and it is very challenging one.”
Similarly Sweety Jane Pala, female lead of the movie who  had acted in 3 movies said that it was challenging for her as she portrayed the character of a gang-rape victim.
Mukhim who has 10 films to his credit welcomed a change in artistry and said, “People should look for performance and chemistry of the actors.”According to the actor, though  not declared officially, the ticket rates of all Khasi and Jaintia Hills films will range from Rs 80, Rs 50 and Rs 40.
The uniform rate will be specific for Bijou and Payal cinema halls, he added.
On black marketing of tickets, he said, “With the advancement of computerization, black marketing of tickets is not a thriving business as before though some are still engaging in it.”
