Commerce body meets PM, raises development issues

SHILLONG: A delegation of the Frontier Chamber of Commerce (FCC) met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Shillong on May 27 and submitted a memorandum for overall development of the State.
Matters relating to improving Shillong under Smart City project, the need to have industrial growth, better roads, expansion of Umroi Airport and other infrastructure related development were raised in the memorandum.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the FCC said that the members had also raised the issue of coal ban by NGT which has adversely affected the economy of the State.  The Prime Minister assured the delegation that he will look into the issues highlighted by the FCC.
According to the commerce body, the meeting with the Prime Minister was fruitful as the delegation was assured by the latter that necessary steps will be taken for the overall development  of the state.
The delegation comprised of P.D. Chokhani, Sajjan Kumar Tharad,  O.P. Agarwala,  K.K. Jhunjhunwala,  J.P.Agarwala and  Manoj Agarwala.
