Release of stamps
Governor V. Shanmuganathan will attend a programme for release of stamps and presentation of awards to marathon winners on the occasion of the 65th Plenary of the NEC at Raj Bhavan, at noon on June 3.
M’laya Diabetes Association
Governor V. Shanmuganathan will be the chief guest at the launch of the Meghalaya Diabetes Association, at Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides, Pine Mount Ridge, Shillong, at 5 PM on June 3.
Flash mob song
The Students’ Affairs Committee, MLCU will perform a “flash mob song” on June 3 at Don Bosco Square at 3:30 pm, on the theme ‘Global Warming’. Students from different departments of the University will take part in the performance.
Sensitization programme
A one-day sensitization programme on disaster mitigation measures for block field functionaries, village headmen, gram sevaks, village disaster management teams, women groups and youth organizations was organized by Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute, Shillong in collaboration with the Mairang C&RD Block at U Tirot Sing Memomrial Ancestral Home, Nongkhlaw recently.
Awareness programme
The National Academy of Sciences, India NER Local Chapter organized a science awareness programme for school children at St. Margaret`s Higher Secondary School, Shillong. 400 students participated in the event. The topic chosen for the lecture was ‘Lifestyle and Cancer’ which was delivered by Professor Anupam Chatterjee of the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, NEHU.
Training
The office of the Horticulture Development Officer, Tea Development Centre, Umsning organized a training programme on ‘Integrated Pest Management in Tea’ at Tea Development Centre on May 31. Many tea growers from Ri Bhoi and Mawlyngot, East Khasi Hills attended the programme.
Students felicitated
The Anderson Higher Secondary School, Nongstoin on Friday felicitated students from the institute who passed their MBoSE SSLC and HSSLC examinations this year.  98 students were felicitated on the occasion. Development Officer, Nongstoin C &RD Block, V. Swer handed over the mementos and awards to the successful students of the school.
Tree plantation
The Social Forestry Division of the State Government at Umsning, in collaboration with Hynñiew-trep Youth Movement (HYM), Banbudai village and the Presbyterian Church Banbudai conducted a tree plantation programme at Banbudai village near Umsning in Ri Bhoi ahead of the World Environment Day celebrations.
Hindi workshop
The Department of Management and Commerce Studies, MLCU organized a workshop on Hindi for future entrepreneurs in the university campus on Thursday. The workshop was attended by students of BBA, MBA and M Com of the University.
