Guwahati: The Speaker of the newly-elected Assam Assembly, Ranjit Kumar Dass, on Thursday ordered an inquiry into the embarrassing technical flaw that crept into the playing of the National Anthem just before the Governor of Assam P B Acharya addressed the House for the first time on its maiden session.
The National Anthem was played just after the Governor had arrived in the House. But it was more of a noise than the melody because of the apparent technical flaw in the device and the tape that was used for the purpose. Taking note of the unwanted development, Speaker Ranjit Kumar Das later asked the principal secretary of the Assembly to enquire into the incident and fix responsibility.
The Speaker suo moto ordered the inquiry though none of the members of the House raised the issue. The brief first session of the 14th Assam Assembly started on Wednesday and will continue till Friday.
