GHADC asks govt to release council money

SHILLONG: GHADC Deputy CEM, Augustine R. Marak, on Thursday met Transport Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh and demanded immediate release of GHADC money to the tune of Rs.20 lakhs pending with the Transport department.
While speaking to reporters later, Marak said, “The State government through the Transport department will have to pay Rs.20 lakhs to the GHADC.”
“The State government has allocated Rs.54 lakhs whereas the remaining Rs.20 lakhs is yet to be released; hence, we ask the State government to release the principal amount along with interests,” he said.
The Deputy CEM informed that the minister has asserted that he would examine the matter.
The Deputy CEM also stated that he had written a letter to the State government earlier but no action was taken.
As to the allocation of Rs.171 crores to the GHADC, he said that Lyngdoh has directed the GHADC to plan its projects as per the guidelines of the Central government.
