NONGSTOIN: An endangered Slow Loris (Nycticebus bengalensis) was rescued in West Khasi Hills by Nongstoin resident S.G. Sanglyne.
While on his way back from Riangdo on Thursday, Sanglyne saw the animal on the middle of the road and brought it home.
On Friday morning, Sanglyne rushed to the Forest office but finding no one there, he contacted the authority of Phan Nonglait Park in Shillong who replied that they have to go through the Wildlife department in Nongstoin.
A dejected Sanglyne is now planning to release the animal in some forest himself.
The Slow Loris, a small reclusive primate, is one of the many endangered wildlife species found in the forests of West Khasi Hills.
