World Environment Day
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and the Basin Development Unit, East Khasi Hills will organize “World Environment Week” celebration from June 6-10 under the theme “Save wildlife, save Meghalaya”. The celebration will focus on various issues affecting the environment.
The State Council of Science, Technology and Environment, in collaboration with Meghalaya Basin   Development Authority, National Innovation Foundation, New Delhi and WIPRO Bangalore, will celebrate   World Environment Day by organising a number programmes from June 7-10.
‘The Green Club, LSLA, Department of English, Lady Keane College, Shillong, celebrated the World Environment Day on June 4 by distributing saplings donated by the Forest Department, Government of Meghalaya, to the staff and students of the College. This was a continuation of the Club’s ‘One Tree, One House’ campaign launched in 2015, for a greener Shillong.
Aqua Fest
The Office of the Superintendent of Fisheries, West Jaintia Hiils, Jowai will organize a one-day District Aqua Fest at Tympang Playground, Iawmusiang, Jowai on June 7.
Meeting
The State Government Adhoc Committee, Shillong Buddhist Association handed over the management, properties, etc., of the Shillong Buddhist Temple and its allied institutions to the Shillong Buddhist Association last month. The Shillong Buddhist Association, on assuming office, has decided to hold its general body meeting on June 19 to discuss the general affairs of the Association.
