Ban on transportation of coal

SHILLONG: In pursuance of the National Green Tribunal order dated March 31 which states that no coal in any form whatsoever shall be permitted to be transported after May 15, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner directed all coal transporters within the district to strictly abide by the directions failing which penal action will be taken against violators as per law.
In a notice issued here, the Deputy Commissioner said on  Tuesday that after May 15 , the entire remaining coal will be the property of the State government and “shall be disposed of in accordance with the law subject to due protection and care for environment and prevention of pollution resulting there from, either by washing of coal or by transportation”.
