SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Draft Meghalaya Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2015.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister in charge Revenue, R.C. Laloo, said the views and opinions of stakeholders including the autonomous district councils on the draft rules will be obtained within 30 days from the date of publication of the rules.
He also said land measuring 5 acres in urban areas and 50 acres in rural areas will be exempted from the act.
The draft rules have been mandated by the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
