Guv to inaugurate International Yoga Day programme

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor, V Shanmuganathan will inaugurate the International Yoga Day – 2016 to be organized by the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture (SAIIC) at its campus at Bivar Road on June 21.
SAIIC, a renowned NGO known for its societal development initiatives, has been in the forefront in imparting yoga awareness for physical fitness and mental wellbeing among cross section of the society through the Swami Vivekananda District Yoga Wellness Centre located at is campus.
This centre is a project of the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi and is managed by SAIIC.
A Yoga run will be arranged from SAIIC campus via Police Bazar and back to the campus at 5:30am on June 21 followed by speeches by the secretaries of Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha, respectively.
About 350 participants will practice a Yoga demonstration “Common Yoga Protocol” preceded by an introduction on the same.
Dr BB Dutta, Chairman, SAIIC along with the Governor will witness the demonstration.
