Check gate case

SHILLONG: Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement East Jaintia Hills president, Ency Shadap has said on Sunday that the allegations made by Ambrose Pala, the Inspector of Mines & Royality  DMR, Umkiang, Check gate, against him, the North East Indigenous  People’s Federation (NEIPF) chairman Marshall Biam, and another individual Julius Nongtdu that they demanded Rs 30,000 from him is totally baseless and false.
“There is no evidence which he can produce to establish his claim”, Shadap said in a statement issued here on Sunday.
According to Shadap, it was Pala’s plan to defame the respective social organizations  to prove himself innocent from the illegal activities committed by him at the check gate for which  they had already filed an F.I.R against him on June 2 .
“Sources reveal that Pala ignores the rules and regulation and violates the law by collecting money from the truckers allowing them to carry overloaded”, Shadap alleged, adding that he even encourages the truck drivers to carry overload and pay him extra money.
“As social workers, we noticed the matter and warned him not to indulge in such illegal activities failing which legal action will be taken against him”, Shadap said, adding that since Pala did not stop his activity, this compelled them to file an FIR against him.
“Seeing the serious situation, he approached and offered us Rs 200,000 and asked us to withdraw the case.
Since we were not ready to compromise, Pala filed the FIR against us with false allegations”, Shadap said.
