World Environment Week concludes

JOWAI: The World Environment Week-2016 which began on June 6 under the theme ‘Go Wild for Life’ jointly organised by West Jaintia Hills district Administration District Basin Development Unit, Jowai, Jowai Municipal Board, Jowai and Forest Department, concluded on Thursday at the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong, here.
Different programmes were conducted during the event, and an awareness rally was also taken out by the Deputy Commissioner, Arunkumar Kembhavi, Nodal Officer Basin Development Unit, B.J Kharshandi and students of different schools.
Placards with slogans were also carried to pass the message to the public on the need to keep the environment clean and healthy, pamphlet were also distributed along the way.
Cash prize , trophies and certificates were given to winners of various competition held during the weeklong event.
