Council budget passed before adjournment

SHILLONG: KHADC Chairman Mansturdy Nongrem prorogued the summer session of the council after its budget for 2016-18 was passed on Thursday.
Interestingly, during the demand for grants for the various heads of department, no cut motion was moved by any of the Opposition members.
KHADC chief PN Syiem had on Monday presented a deficit budget of Rs 18,490 for the fiscal year 2016-2017 on the first day of the session. The total estimated expenditure is Rs 189, 47, 72,150, which is more than the anticipated revenue collection of Rs 189, 47, 53,660. Earlier, the KHADC had passed a vote on account for three months for the expenditure incurred till June 30.
