SHILLONG: CSWO (I) has expressed surprise over the inspection of forester S. Swer on the land belonging to one Libon Law at Nartiang, West Jaintia Hills on June 26 as it is alleged that it was done without the knowledge of Libon Law who is the owner of the land for 50 years.
President of CSWO (I) Irene Hujon, in a statement issued here said that the inspection is suspicious as it was done without the prior knowledge of the owner.
Hujon said, “The CSWO has received photos of the felling of trees, and in this connection the village dorbar cannot deny the harassment meted towards her, even her house which is under construction is being stalled after sand and mud was dumped in the holes dug by the labourers.”.
The organization has urged the Divisional Forest Officer, Jaintia Hills to investigate the matter and seek a report from Swer, with regard to his alleged inspection. The CSWO sought the JHADC’s intervention with regard to the high-handedness of the Dorbar Shnong as they stated that nobody has the right to interfere in other people’s land boundary.
