NPP to take lead for alliance, says Conrad

SHILLONG: Despite varied views from the regional parties on the issue of pre-poll alliance for the 2018 Assembly polls, NPP has decided to pursue the matter with the likeminded parties.
While HSPDP is keen to have only post-poll alliance, the UDP and BJP are open to go for a grand alliance of likeminded parties.
When contacted, the NPP national president Conrad Sangma said on Tuesday that there is no change in the stand of the party to go for an alliance to defeat Congress in 2018.

The newly elected MP from Tura Conrad Sangma may take oath on July 18 when the Monsoon session of the Parliament begins.
Conrad said since the session starts on July 18, oath taking can come up on the same day.
