SHILLONG: The Board of Higher Secondary School Education (BHSE), Delhi has been made a party in the case related to Kalpataru Academy which is affiliated to BHSE, to cater to the drop out students who want to reappear for Class X and XII examinations.
There were complaints that educational institutions in the city had rejected admissions to those students who had passed out from Kalpataru Academy citing that the certificates issued by BHSE are not recognized by the State Education department.
Earlier on June 20, the High Court of Meghalaya had asked the State government to ensure that students who have already passed their class X examination from Kalpataru Academy do not suffer, as far as possible, in their academic career.
During the hearing on Thursday, counsel for the petitioner S. Thapa desired for including BHSE, Delhi as respondent in the case.
“After considering the pros and cons and the facts and circumstances of the case, I am sure that the presence of the Board of Higher Secondary School Education (BHSE) Delhi is highly necessary to adjudicate the matter,” Justice S.R. Sen said in his order.
Accordingly, the petitioner’s counsel was directed to take necessary steps to serve notice to BHSE.
Meanwhile, the government counsels sought three weeks’ time to file the counter affidavit and it was allowed.
It was on June 7 this year that the Education department had withdrawn the NOC given to Kalpataru Academy citing that the BHSE is not recognized by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.
Earlier in August last year, the Education department had given NOC to the Academy to get affiliated to BHSE, Delhi.
