SHILLONG: The UDP has cautioned its party members to be wary of the “tricks employed by other political parties” to win over support and also the futility of falling prey to money power.
Addressing the meeting of the party at Mawkdok Community Hall on Wednesday to welcome new members into the party fold and to review the performance of the circle as a whole, UDP vice president, Allantry Franklin Dkhar urged the members to make efforts to ensure that local MLA Titus Chyne gets re-elected so that he can serve the people better as “the party is poised to take over the reins of governance in 2018”.
The local MLA, party’s district secretary and MDC, Teinwell Dkhar, circle secretary Ryngkat Lyndem and a host of circle unit leaders and party workers were present in the meeting.
The meet was chaired by local party leader Phyrnai Nongrum, who praised the local MLA for various achievements including the construction of new roads which includes the Laitlyndop-Rimawsaw road.
The party members also expressed their gratitude to the MLA for maintaining transparency while implementing the Local Area Development Scheme and for having been instrumental in ensuring the functionality of PHCs.
Chyne thanked the members for their overwhelming response and renewed his commitment to work for all.
