SHILLONG: Meghalaya will have only one centre for the students to write National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET –II) examination to be conducted the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on July 24.
A Health department official said on Friday that only Shillong centre was approved, though the state government wanted another centre in Tura “since the students along with their parents will have to come all the way from Garo Hills to Shillong.”
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET II) is conducted for entrance to medical and dental colleges.
“The time was too short this time to have a centre in Tura, but we will pursue the matter for the next year’s examination,” the official added.
Earlier for the year 2013-14, the state government had opted for NEET, but in the subsequent years 2014-15 and 2015-16, the pattern of NEET was not followed.
