Planning body constituted

SHILLONG: Governor V Shanmuganathan has constituted a planning authority with deputy commissioners as chairman in all the districts of the state as mandated under Section  14 of the Meghalaya Street and Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending ) Act,  2014.
The   other members of the authority include  District  Planning officer, Superintendents of police, District Urban Planner, Secretary Autonomous District Council, Additional Chief Engineers of PHE and PWD,lead Bank Manager,  District Medical Health officers, CEO of Municipal  and Secretary of MUDA, if applicable.
The chairperson of the Town Vending Committee would be the member secretary of the authority.
The notification issued by the State Government informed that the authority will be responsible to carry out all functions laid down in Section 14 (F) of   the Meghalaya Street and Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending ) Act,  2014.
The committee may also explore the possibility of convergence of National Urban Livelihoods Mission  (NULM)  with street vendors livelihood and avenues of promotional  measures under section 19  of the  Act, an official statement said on Friday.
