SHILLONG: Under pressure from critics to perform, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday held as many as six meetings with different pressure groups, headmen, student bodies besides a few internal meetings.
The day started with a meeting of the State Security Commission to elect a new DGP, followed by a meeting with pressure groups on the issue of road construction at Wahkaji.
The chief minister later held a meeting with the headmen on the pending issues of VAB, among others, followed by a meeting with SSA teachers on the issue related to their salary enhancement. Sangma then held a meeting with Agriculture students on aspects related to recruitments.
The chief minister’s last meeting of the day was with the FKJGP who met him with a demand for upgrading Mawsynram into a civil sub division.
Sources said that after the demand for change of leadership and the subsequent reshuffle of the cabinet, there is pressure on the chief minister to perform as the AICC and his ‘detractors’ are said to be closely watching every development.
