Asha School celebrates 18th Foundation Day

SHILLONG: The 18th Foundation Day of Asha School, Shillong was celebrated at the 58 Gorkha Training Centre on Thursday.  The event was attended by various civil and military dignitaries who are involved in the functioning of the school including the guest of honour, Caramai Kharkongor, Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Meghalaya and chief guest Pratibha S Nawathe, zonal president AWWA and president of the management committee of Asha School.
It was 18 yrs ago in 1998, when the school, which has over the years made a difference to the lives of the differently abled children in the city, began functioning within the precincts of 58 GTC.
Currently the school, which is being administrated under the aegis of HQ 101 Area by 58 GTC, caters to 31 children with the support of 11 staff members.
A cultural programme was also organised on the occasion.
