SHILLONG: With the Opposition poised to move a no-confidence motion against Assembly Speaker A.T Mondal, KHADC chief P.N Syiem, who is seen as a dissident leader, refused to comment on the development.
“We heard that it was moved by  the Opposition. We have no role in it,” Syiem said when asked about what is in store during the upcoming autumn session of the Assembly starting from September 9.
Speculation is rife that the dissidents may join hands with the Opposition to remove the Speaker and subsequently the Chief Minister in the upcoming Assembly session.
According to Syiem, as a party member he cannot go against the Congress if a no-confidence motion is brought against those at the helm of affairs. However, “wait and see” was the answer by Syiem to a query on the unfolding political developments in the State.
