SHILLONG: The North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) released the North Eastern District Resources Plan (NEDRP) portal on the occasion of its 1th foundation Day on Monday.
Speaking to media persons about the portal and its relevance to the northeastern region, NESAC Director P.L.N Raju said, “The resources plan is one of the successful programmes of NESAC with an objective to make use of the geospatial inputs for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR), Master plan document and planning of various developmental activities in the NE region.”
Raju said the programme has been implemented to strengthen the governance policy through geospatial inputs and added that the NEDRP will facilitate inter-departmental geospatial data sharing through the secured authentication gateway and on-the-fly geo-processing of action plan inputs based on the user’s criteria.
“This version of NEDRP covers 36 districts of the North East region and the remaining districts will be covered by March 2017,” he said.
C.H Kharshiing, Advisor (Planning), North Eastern Council (NEC), released the NEDRP portal. He appreciated the efforts made by NESAC for the development of the region. Earlier, a talk on ‘Space Technology for Development of NER’ was also delivered.
Eminent academicians like Amarjyoti Choudhury, former Vice Chancellor of Guwahati University and Pro-VC at Tezpur University, also spoke on technology demands for the development of NER. Dulal C Goswami, former Professor of Guwahati University, spoke on ‘Wealth and woes of the Brahmaputra: Geospatial Technology and Management’.
