SHILLONG: Supporters of A.L Hek, who was recently dropped from the State Cabinet, are not happy with the alleged double standard of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC). This is despite the former Health and Family Welfare minister appreciating MPCC’s move to appoint him as one of its vice presidents.
Hek’s supporters feel that he was victimized by the MPCC on suspicion that he was getting closer to the BJP. “Why did they appoint him as a vice president if they suspect him to be a sympathiser of another party,” said some supporters.
Hek had earlier expressed happiness over his elevation from the post of block president. Though the reason for the sudden elevation is not known, many political thinkers say the move was meant to appease Hek after dropping him from the cabinet.
Amid murmurs within the Congress that Hek may join the BJP again, he himself is mum on the issue.
