SHILLONG: Khasi movie ‘Jingkyrkhu’ or ‘Blessing’ will be screened at Bijou cinema on Friday, said president of Meghalaya Film Makers’ Association (MeFILMA) Commander Shangpliang following the release of the film on Wednesday.
Speaking at a function to mark the release he said, “Film making is more of a hobby (in Meghalaya) as there is negligible monetary benefit. For every movie screened at the halls, we have to shell out Rs 1.10 lakh for a week whether we are making profit or not.”
“I urge other filmmakers and the masses to watch the movie and lend their support to the filmmakers and the actors,” he added.
Optimistic that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will fulfill the assurances made to filmmakers during the Panorama Film Festival 2016, he said, “We urge the CM to accomplish what he had said with regard to establishing separate cinemas to screen (Contd on P-10)
