SHILLONG: A man has been arrested in South West Khasi Hills district on Wednesday for raping his 10-year-old step-daughter.
Police said the accused, Millingstone Khardewsaw, raped the minor at her residence at Rangblang in the district on September 4. He was arrested on Tuesday.
South West Khasi Hills SP Herbert Lyngdoh said the girl was brought to Mawkyrwat CHC and preliminary examination showed that she was raped. The girl was referred to a hospital in Shillong.
Police said Khardewsaw had confessed to his crime.
