‘Liquor smuggler’ held; cattle seized

SHILLONG: BSF personnel on Sunday apprehended a 22-year-old man from Purakhasiain in West Garo Hills for smuggling liquor into Bangladesh.
The man, identified as Mehonath M. Sangma of Sakha Badamgiri village in West Garo Hills, was held with 36 bottles of liquor when he was trying to cross the border.
In another incident, the BSF troops seized a truck carrying cattle from the bordering area of Chiringiri in South Garo Hills.
The security personnel also seized cattle being smuggled into Bangladesh from Baldamgiri in West Garo Hills and Kasinda in East Khasi Hills.
