SHILLONG: The under construction Mawhati bridge which collapsed last month will be made again, engineers informed Mawhati MDC James Sylliang.
When contacted by The Shillong Times, Sylliang said, “The engineers have admitted that the construction of the bridge that will connect Umtrai and Pamlatar had been shoddy.”
“The people who were injured have not received compensation yet. The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, C.P. Gotmare and the engineers of PWD (Roads) said that the compensation has to be borne by the contractor of Dhar Constructions,” he added.
Sylliang informed that he is awaiting the report from the PWD (Roads) with regard to the collapse of the bridge.
The bridge, which was being built under the PMGSY, collapsed when workers were cementing the structure.
