Nadda nudges NE states on utilising central fund

SHILLONG: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P Nadda on Tuesday asked all Northeastern states, including Meghalaya, to utilise more funds allocated by the Centre.
Speaking to media persons after holding a meeting of the parliamentary consultative committee on health at NEIGRIHMS on Tuesday, Nadda, who was upset with the State government’s inability to utilise funds, said states should have to develop capacity building support for utilisation of funds and the Ministry would extend its support to the states on capacity building.
It was decided in the meeting that public representatives should be involved for better cooperation of people in various issues to improve the parameters of the healthcare sector in the North East at a faster pace.
Stating that the Centre was committed to developing health facilities in the region, Nadda said the Central government would continue to extend its support to the Northeastern states as far as health sector was concerned.
The two-hour parliamentary consultative committee meeting discussed and reviewed several issues and health situation of the region.     The meeting was attended by 13 parliamentarians of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, besides the officials of the Health Department and NEIGRIHMS. Earlier, the committee also visited Pomlum PHC and took stock of the facilities at the health centre.
