Dikkanchi case deferred

SHILLONG: The election petition of Congress legislator Dikkanchi Shira against Tura MP Conrad Sangma has been deferred to October 21.
When the case came up for hearing on Friday, a joint request was made by Q.B Lamare, counsel for the petitioner, as well as Tenzin Yangkyi, counsel for the respondent, to defer the case.
Hence the matter was adjourned and rescheduled for hearing on October 21 as the conducting counsels could not come due to some personal difficulty.
Dikkanchi, who unsuccessfully contested the Tura Lok Sabha seat during the by-poll, filed the petition challenging the victory of NPP candidate Sangma stating that he had used unfair means to confuse voters about distribution of money under MGNREGS.
