4 UDP ticket aspirants for Sohiong seat

SHILLONG: As many as four ticket aspirants from UDP are willing to contest the Sohiong-Nongspung district council seat which has remained vacant after Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh resigned from the position following the passage of the dual posts bill by the State Legislative Assembly.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, UDP president Donkupar Roy said, “Our purpose is to win the election and keeping this in mind we have brought all the four aspirants together to interact with them. In the end, the candidates should not feel bad if we chose someone else over them. We urge them to not defect to other political parties but remain loyal to the UDP.”
The candidates, R.A. Lyngdoh, Wankupar Syiemlieh, Frederick Lyngkhoi and Braston Kharbuli, meanwhile, have said that they are willing to support each other to ensure the party’s win. Congress and HSPDP have already announced their candidates for Sohiong-Nongspung seat.
