TURA: The NPP’s Resubelpara unit has lamented the lack of initiatives being taken by the State Government for the development of North Garo Hills district since its creation in 2012. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, NPP leader Rupert Momin said that the biggest hurdle faced by the district is poor road communication with projects like the construction of the Songsak-Mendipathar road still far away from completion. Momin said that people travelling from Mendipathar to Resubelpara and Resubelpara to Songsak are the worst affected. Momin also reminded of the collapse Soksan bridge during the recent Garo Hills floods which is yet to be reconstructed, as well as the stretch of NH-62 from Damra to Resubelpara and Resubelpara to Bajengdoba, both of which are in a sorry state. He urged the State Government to initiate speedy construction of the Soksan Bridge and to repair all the other roads to ease the suffering of the people.
