NONGPOH: The United Democratic Party (UDP) unit in Ri Bhoi has decided to field candidates in all five constituencies of the district in the 2018 legislative assembly elections.
Informing this, UDP’s district general secretary Rayonald Kharkamni said, “The party is hopeful of winning all the seats in Ri Bhoi as people here are fed up with the dictatorial attitude of the Congress-led government in the State.”
The decision was taken in a meeting on Monday that was attended by party’s Ri Bhoi unit president Donbok Khymdeit, MDCs Rona Khymdeit and Donkupar Sumer, leaders of the youth and the women’s wings, among others. Kharkamni said UDP has already started work at the grassroots level in the five constituencies.
Meanwhile, HSPDP on Saturday confirmed the names of its newly elected office bearers in Ri Bhoi where state party chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit administered oath at a function in Umsning.
The new office bearers of HSPDP’s Ri Bhoi unit include P.B Sylliang (president), Khrawpyrkhat Marwein (vice president), Nicky Kharthangmaw (general secretary), Wanpyndap Lapang (joint secretary), Rijied Khymdeit (finance secretary), Donkupar Wriang (organising secretary) and five executive members from each constituency of the district.
