SHILLONG: The BJP’s state unit in charge, Nalin Kohli, has constituted a two-member team to inquire the alleged misuse of Rs 100-crore central fund by the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and non-transparency in the Council’s allotment of contracts for several projects.
BJP State president Shibun Lyngdoh said on Wednesday BJP has zero tolerance towards corruption and the probe team has been assigned to seek clarifications from their two MDCs who are supporting the present EC in GHADC.
The team comprising Lyngdoh and treasurer S Jhunjunwala is already in Tura. “We are working on it and we will inform Kohli about our findings on November 4 when he visits Shillong,” said the state head of BJP.
The BJP president also said another reason for their visit to Tura is the fact that one of the parties has donated a building for its office and they are in Tura to see the new location.
GHADC CEM Denang Sangma denied the allegations and said the matter is being “politicized”.
“Since the opposition has moved the court, we will present our case in the court too,” Sangma said.
