MLA urges farmers to opt for government schemes

Nongpoh: The Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association on Friday organized a one-day farmer’s awareness programme on the theme ‘Ka ri jingri – Ka lad ai kam ai jam’ at Pynthor Shnong Lumdaitkhla, Bhoirymbong Ri Bhoi District. The programme was graced by local legislator Ngaitlang Dhar as chief guest.
More than 200 farmers from different villages within Umsning C&RD Block took part in the programme.
Dhar said that agriculture and farming is the backbone of the economy in today’s world and Ri Bhoi District has been blessed with a fertile soil compared to other districts of the State and urged the people to make use of government schemes and use it to increase productivity. Dhar also stated that he will also urge the government to take an initiative in improving the quality of agriculture as well as farming in the State.
