Heroin worth over Rs 12 lakh seized in city, three arrested

SHILLONG: The anti-narcotics task force of East Khasi Hills district police has arrested three drug suppliers and seized heroin worth over Rs 12 lakh from their possession.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M. Kharkrang informed that the task force received information about 27-year-old Wankmen Susngi selling the contraband at Mawlai Nongpdeng.
The Dorbar Shnong of Mawlai Nongpdeng helped the police who seized six ‘purias’, or paper wraps, containing heroin weighing 0.16gm and two mobile phones from Susngi’s possession.
The arrest of Susngi led the task force and Mawlai police to two more drug peddlers. Hmar Ramengmawia (28) was arrested from Madanrting Bazar.
He gave information about Shokhomang Lhungdim, a big supplier, who was arrested from his residence at Lumbatngen, Law-u-Sib in the city. The anti-narcotics personnel found 127.77 gm of heroin worth Rs 12.70 lakh.
The police also seized 385 empty ‘golden’ tin containers meant for packing heroin for sale, two mobile phones, documents and seven big packets of heroin.
The task force has appreciated the support of the Dorbar Shnong and the Seng Samla of Mawlai Nongpdeng.
