SHILLONG: Set with an intention to curb frequent encroachment to the Shillong Golf Links, the Sports Department of the State is making efforts to protect and preserve the scenic beauty of the golf course.
Zenith Sangma, Minister in charge of Sports and Youth Affairs, told reporters that the department will come up with a strategy to protect and preserve the natural golf course designed by Capt. Jackson and established in the year 1898.  Being one of the main tourist attraction, the Shillong Golf Course has, of late, has lost its natural beauty with the digging of trenches in which people dump indiscriminate garbage in and around the place which remains an eyesore to the public as well as the tourists.
