Six arrested for impersonation during police recruitment

SHILLONG: Six persons including three candidates have been arrested for impersonation and cheating during the Physical Efficiency Test during the recruitment to the posts of Unarmed Branch Sub Inspector (UBSI) at 1st MLP Battalion, Mawiong.   Lakador Syiem, the Principal of Police Training School has lodged three separate FIRs following the crime on Thursday.In the first instance, one Walter Jones Nongsiej (27) sent another person identified as Opland K. Jahrin to appear in the Physical Efficiency Test in his place in the recruitment.Another FIR was filed against one Phrancistar Ramsiej (28) for sending another person identified as Marvelous K. Jahrin to appear for the test.
The third FIR was filed against one Bidonshai Syiemlieh for sending another person, Bidorsing Syiemlieh in his place for measurement of height during the recruitment process.After investigation, all the six persons have been arrested by the police.  Syiem further said that all the six persons will be debarred from undergoing the recruitment process in future even as he added that the police have a foolproof mechanism to check such instances. According to Syiem, during recruitment, the admit cards of all the candidates are checked, and moreover, the candidates are also identified through biometric verification.
“Even the photos of the candidates are verified from the admit cards and the persons who appear during the recruitment drive”, Syiem added.
