Tornado, Ribong cruise to wins

5th Ardhendu Chaudhuri Memorial Cricket tourney

Shillong: It was yet another exciting day of action at the 5th Ardhendu Chaudhuri Memorial Day and Night Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament organised by Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Thursday.
On the second day, Tornado and Rilbong Club emerged victorious in their respective groups.
In the first match, Tornado defeated Young Guns by 73 runs. Tornado scored 101 runs losing all their wickets in 11.4 overs. Joy Sarkar top scored with 53 runs while Young Guns’ Gayandeep, Rajiv and Prosenjit bagged two wickets each.
Young Guns were no match to the spirited Tornado side and were bundled out for 28 runs in 7.5 overs. For Tornado, Shindu and Debashish picked two wickets each.
Meanwhile, an all-round performance from Vision’s Debojyoti went in vain in the second match as Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club won the tie by 36 runs. Rilbong scored a mammoth 124/6 in the allotted 12 overs with Ujjal and Akash scoring 43 and 21 runs respectively while Debojyoti took three wickets for Vision.
In reply, Vision started poorly but Debojyoti’s lone innings of 41 runs was a face saver for his side which was restricted to 88/7 in 10.3 overs. For Rilbong Sports and Cultural Club, Akash took four wickets.
On Friday, Kench’s Trace will lock horns with Burnside in the first match, while Young Guns will take on Laban SC in the second tie.
