DPR for two-laning of NH-51 submitted to NHIDC

SHILLONG: The final detailed project report for the upgradation of NH-51 to two lanes with paved shoulder and geometric improvements from 101km to 145km has been received by the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDC).
As per the status report, the DPR is being finalised in consultation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The report says that preliminary survey for land acquisition is under progress and the social impact assessment notification is to be issued shortly.
It may be mentioned that the exchange note for the project was signed between the Centre and Japan earlier this year. The JICA loan agreement will be signed after Cabinet approval and social impact assessment will commence shortly.
The GHADC has already issued its consent for the project.
The 48km road will be taken up by M/s Theme Consultancy and the total project cost including land acquisition is Rs 360 crore.
