Umtru project may be complete by March 2017

SHILLONG: The much-awaited Umtru hydroelectric project is likely to be commissioned in March next year. Minister in charge of Power Sniawbhalang Dhar said on Friday the project has made good progress and is nearing completion.The foundation stone for the 40-MW Umtru project was laid in 2007 by the then Chief Minister D.D Lapang. Once commissioned, the project will add 40 MW to the State’s power pool and it will help in managing the starved power scenario of the state.
