SHILLONG: The transfer of the West Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner has irked members of the Meghalaya People United Front (MPUF) who have alleged that vested interest had prompted the decision.
Arun Kumar Kembhavi was transferred on Monday to Nongstoin as deputy commissioner.
In a statement to the press on Tuesday, the organisation said Kembhavi did not work according to politicians’ whims.
“He is a sincere and a dedicated officer. As NGOs we have seen changes in the functioning of the district. It is through him that we got the new and renewable energy project that cost Rs 6.04 crore,” the statement read. The organisation has called upon the people to protest as the transfer “will affect the district’s development”.
